So I was driving and I saw this little owl on someone’s bumper, and I thought wow how simple. I love owls, no two ways about it I’m obsessed, but I couldn’t find a design I liked for my shop that didn’t look like something someone else had. After all isn’t the point of a logo to get you recognized. If my owl looked like everyone else’s how would you know that it was The Cotton Road’s shop and not another store.
My second love is trees. So much so that I just ordered an IPhone case made of bamboo, with a tree carved into the back, maybe a little obsessed there too. So where does this lead you ask, well my creativeness goes beyond crocheting, so I drew myself a new logo.
The owl is simple, the body is one line and I did it in a shape of a C for Cotton. Two more lines and two dots and you have a simple yet sophisticated owl. Some photo editing and the owl looks amazing.
I then drew a tree branch and colored it in. I wanted the owl to stand out in black and white against the brown and green. I did a little maneuvering to make it so there was a tree on either side.
A little background, some color editing with a soft yellow, beveling of the edges and a logo is created. I have updated both my Facebook page and Etsy shop to reflect the new look.
Let me know what you think of the new look.
I leave you with a quote about creativity from James Russell Lowell
“Creativity is not the finding of a thing, but the making something out of it after it is found.”
